TTSE Staff

Kris Popplewell Ahmed, MPH, CHES
Interim Executive Director

Kris Ahmed has been at Teen Talk Sexuality Education since 1999. As Interim Executive Director she oversees the administrative and financial management of the organization. Kris works closely with volunteer Board of Directors and manages all TTSE programs, staff, and contracts and grants. She has extensive experience working effectively with youth and adults in teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease prevention, including direct instruction, classroom facilitation and training of health educators/teachers. Kris developed and is the lead author of the Teen Talk, Middle School and Teen Talk, High School curricula. Kris graduated with honors from the University of California at Santa Barbara in June 1997, where she received her BA in psychology. She graduated with her Masters in Public Health from San Francisco State University in 2005.

Kris has been a presenter at the California Public Health Association Northern Chapter, Florence Critten Roundtable, Society of Public Health Education, Healthy Teen Network Annual Meetings, International Association for the Study of Sexuality, Culture and Society and the American Public Health Association.

 

Perryn Rowland
Program Director

Perryn Rowland has worked in health education and with young people for 25 years. At TTSE, she teaches Teen Talk, Plain Talk and helps facilitate the Teen Parent Panel. She also designed and taught a Puberty Education curriculum in East Palo Alto. Perryn has attended hundreds of births as a certified doula and childbirth educator and has worked at Planned Parenthood, Kaiser Permanente, Blossom Birth Services and the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. She graduated from Wesleyan University and attended La Universidad Catolica de Lima, Peru. Perryn particularly enjoys teaching Spanish-speaking youth and their parents. She has a wonderfully supportive husband and three very patient sons.

 

Anacely Vazquez-Carrillo
Senior Health Educator

Anacely Vazquez-Carrillo is our Senior Health Educator and specializes in working with the Latino students for the Teen Talk program. She has been involved in sexuality education for 3 years now and especially enjoys teaching youth. She graduated from Stanford University in 2008 and plans to pursue a degree in public policy. She particularly enjoys teaching the Teen Talk program in the newcomer classes in Spanish.
